Matthew.
Matthew is our main band member. He looks older than he is and is very happy to help out, he just needs to learn the song so he knows what words he is miming.
Matthew, Lewis and Olly.
Matthew is our main band member. Lewis (right) is going to be playing the drums and Olly (left) was standing in for Daniel who couldn't be there. Ryan will also be in the band now as he is replacing Joe. We asked to borrow a drum kit from the music department of our school. They gave us drums with no stands, sticks or a proper stool. They had the stands but wouldn't let us use them as they said we hadn't specifically asked for them. We are not allowed to actually hit the drums but that is ok, so long as it looks like they are being hit.
Ryan.
This video is of someone who was going to be one half of the gay couple, but because our other band member cancelled last minute we chose to use him in this role. He is actually better because he moves both his hands along the guitar so that it looks realistic and he knows the words. Unfortunately, because it was last minute, he is in the incorrect costume (needs a white shirt). He could not make it to the actual filming, neither did his replacement so now we are using Akshay in this role.
Daniel and Paige.
This is the boy who will be going on the date to the cinema, however we need to find another girl as the first one cancelled and the replacement never showed up.The girl in this video is actually a member of our crew. We have now found 2 girls who would like to help us. However of these girls could not make it to filming and the other just never showed up. Again. So now Paige is in fact playing the role of the cinema girl; Valerie.
Alex and Joe.
This is the gay couple. Joe was going to be a band member but he had to cancel on the night so we had to find someone to take his place. Now he is in the gay couple. Alex isn't actually part of the video, he was just helping out. However, Alex will now be replacing Louis in the gay couple as Louis is completely unreliable.
Akshay and Mayra.
This is our restaurant couple. Mayra has had to take over from Freya who couldn't make the filming date. Akshay is now being replaced with a different Lewis as he couldn't make it when we filmed his scene. Akshay is now a band member as both Ryan and his replacement (Lee-Jay) couldn't make it.

The Luxe Cinema Permission Letter.
Dear Managers,
My name is Elizabeth Baker, I am Head Girl at Thomas
Clarkson Academy and I have been a customer of yours for years and even chatted
to you on several occasions. I am studying A level Media along with two other
students (Paige Etherington and Toni-Marie Warden). For our course we need to
make a music video and we have chosen the song 'Love Is Easy' by Mcfly. We have
chosen to film 3 couples on 3 different romantic dates. What we are asking of
you is to use your facilities to film a date at the cinema. We would need to
film them sitting, laughing and watching a movie on the screen and therefore
only need to use one room. We have chosen to ask permission for the Luxe
because of its stylish decor and prime location. I have watched countless films
with you and I think that the customer service is fantastic, I believe that the
screen room would be a beautiful setting for our short clip. It will last for a
couple of minutes and we would love to know times when the room is not in
public use so that we could film in it.
Please contact me urgently as we need to know as soon as
possible, you would be helping us a lot and we would be extremely grateful. If
you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me on my personal email or my
school email which is ......................................................
Thank you for your time and consideration

Filling The Theatre.
I emailed around 40 teachers and 20 sixth formers asking them to spread the word that we need people to stay after school to help us fill the theatre.

Teacher's comments on our filming-Research.
Report.
During the filming of the award students, there were many disruptions.
These involved:
© The students themselves forgetting their lines
© The students not thinking about where to stand
© The tripod being stiff
© Not being prepared as in not knowing what they should shout out
© Not very organised
However in the end it went really well and we got all of the shots we needed.

Planning and research feedback.
Focus:
Research & Planning
|
Strengths:
·
You have added
numerous relevant posts for research and planning. 67 posts in all!
·
You have a
detailed shooting schedule.
·
You have used
some well-chosen photographs to illustrate your ideas.
|
Areas for improvement:
·
Upload your storyboard
and animatic and get feedback.
·
You must make
sure that you don’t just put pictures up without explaining how these are
relevant to your music video.
·
The research
and planning is difficult to navigate. Create labels – one for research and
one for planning. Then place the relevant posts under these labels.
|
Resulting Actions (student response):
I will add labels to organise my work
and upload my storyboard and animatic.
I will also analyse my pictures.

Strengths and Shortcomings of our methodology-Evaluation.
Strengths and
Shortcomings of our methodology.
Questionnaires.
Strengths-
©
can find out what people really think as it’s
anonymous
©
Quick way to find out what our target audience
wants
©
Questionnaires provide a way of asking questions
in a very simple and understandable format
©
Can all be done at one time (unlike individual
interviews)
Weaknesses-
©
People could lie
©
People may not bother filling them in
©
People may miss out questions/ not understand
them
©
Some questions may be accidentally bias by
slightly highlighting a certain option for the audience to choose. In order for
the results to be valid, the research must not be tainted with our group’s
opinions, only the focus group’s.
Focus Groups.
Strengths-
©
Finding out what the target audience wants
©
Quicker and easier than trying to gain the
opinions of the entire target audience
Weaknesses-
©
People may influence each other’s answers if the
talk (untrustworthy)
©
May not concentrate on the task
©
May copy other’s work if can’t be bothered to do
it themselves
If I were to redo the questionnaire then I would add more
options to the questions eg. ‘1) what
genre do you like? Pop/rap/acoustic/indie’ becomes ‘1) What genre of music do
you prefer? Pop/rap/acoustic/indie/metal/dance/rave/electro/country’ so that
there are more options for people to choose if they like. I would also add
‘both’ options to questions like ‘6) boy singer and girl singer?’ as many
people simply wrote down the word ‘both’ rather than choosing from the options.
This could possibly be due to our audience type because they may not understand
how important it is to give their own opinions, or they may not be able to be
decisive.
If I were to conduct the focus group differently, I would
supervise some of the trickier or more open questions as a group rather than
individually as I feel that some students did not understand what they were
answering.

Feedback-Blog.
Focus:
Blog
Update (16/12/13)
|
Strengths:
1.
Your own work
is coming along and it shows all of the ideas you have mentioned coming
together as the product.
2.
You have
uploaded more of your own work both hand made and computer generated to show
you are progressing.
|
Areas for improvement:
1.
Ensure your
digipak and magazine advertisement are 100% professional, including all of
the conventions of form – photographs?
2.
Make a Blog
post to show the explicit connections between both products.

Teacher Feedback For Digipak Pitch-Planning.
Focus:
Pitch
Feedback
|
Strengths:
1.
A much more
professional approach this time.
2.
You have linked
your band’s genre to other bands well, showing how you are exploiting the
ideas and themes.
3.
Great planning
with practice shots.
4.
Making an
additional mood board was an excellent idea to focus your planning.
|
Areas for improvement:
1.
Slow down –
ensure you are not making the audience feel rushed.
2.
Make explicit
links to your target and your audience.
3.
Comment on the
ways in which you will use the conventions of form.
|
Resulting Actions (student response):
If I did it again I would explain how
I analysed the digipaks in more detail.

Feedback-Planning & Research.
Focus:
29.12.13
Research
and Planning (9/20 = Level 2)
|
Strengths:
1.
Good time
management skills.
2.
Some evidence
of drafting both your digipak and your magazine advertisement.
3.
Your prototypes
show that you have taken all of the research on board.
4.
You have
researched both digipak and magazine advertisements and replicated the
digipak to show the conventions of form.
|
Areas for improvement:
1.
Ensure all
tasks are uploaded as you cannot leave a level 2 whilst it is incomplete.
This includes your own photo shoot with edited images.
2.
A wider range
of ICT programmes could have been used.
|
Resulting Actions (student response):
I am going to upload more of my work
and annotate everything.

Feedback-Planning.
Focus:
29.12.13
Print,
Level 2 (due to your own images being missing – you have lost marks for the
quality, editing etc of these)
|
Strengths:
1.
Your prototypes
are very promising to show that your final product will fit the conventions
of form. You have clearly put a lot of effort into making these.
2.
You have
completed font research but some work on size would be useful.
3.
You have taken
the feedback from your pitch into account when making a prototype of the
product.
|
Areas for improvement:
1.
Ensure all
shooting material is appropriate to the task set; selecting mise-en-scene
including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting.
2.
Explore a range
of distances, shots and angles before deciding on your final images.
3.
Take your own
images for both products and include edited versions as part of your
planning. To gain a higher level, your images will need to be manipulated to
persuade the audience.
4.
Ensure you
integrate your text into your images on your final products.
|
Resulting Actions (student response):
I will edit more photos and play
around with them to make them relate to my target audience.
